Teatro Colon is Argentina's most prized theater. Overlooking Avenida 9 de Julio, the theater opened on May 25, 1908, after taking 20 years to build. Verdi's 'Aida' was the first performance to grace its stage. Teatro Colon underwent a huge renovation project that took almost five years to complete and reopened in 2010 to coincide with Argentina's 200-year Bicentennial celebrations.
