La Academia Nacional del Tango, The National Tango Academy, is the place to go for those interested in learning about Argentina's most well-known export. Located on Avenida de Mayo, the Academy opened in the early 1990s. It preserves the heritage of Tango while providing educational courses, classes, and shows. It also houses an extensive library of books, records, and compositions related to Tango.
The Academy also includes El Museo Mundial del Tango, The World Tango Museum. The museum boasts a large collection of historical Tango memorabilia, including instruments, posters, records, photos, and clothing. There are also various artworks and sculptures related to the famous dance.
The Academy features several dance studios where Tango lessons are held for all levels, from beginner to advanced, during the week.

La Academia Nacional del Tango is a must-visit for those who have a passion for the dance, as well as for complete novices eager to learn about it. El Museo Mundial del Tango charges a small fee to visitors but offers a rich collection of Tango artworks and classic memorabilia from Tango legends. The academy and museum usually are open early afternoon until early evening. Dance classes are generally held in the early evening. It's recommended to personally visit beforehand to get more information about classes. Whilst in the area, maybe stop for a coffee at the historic Cafe Tortoni Coffee House, which is nearby.
