The Hipodromo de Palermo is one of Argentina's most prestigious racecourses. Hosting up to 120 race meetings per year, the course mainly features thoroughbred flat racing. Every year in mid-November, the biggest race of the year, El Gran Premio Nacional (The Argentine Derby), is run.

Dating back to 1876, the Hipodromo de Palermo racecourse boasts world-class facilities, including several large grandstands. The impressive grand entrance, designed by French architect Faure Dujarric, is built in an Art Nouveau style. Hipodromo de Palermo also offers alternative entertainment such as slot rooms with modern machines and a variety of fine dining options.

The premises include numerous betting booths, foreign exchange houses, and several ATMs.

Subway:

Linea D – Get off at Palermo Station. The racecourse is about a 10-minute walk away.

Bus:

Routes 10, 34, 130, 160, and 166 stop at Libertador Avenue and Dorrego Street.

Train:

TBA trains – Get off at 3 de Febrero or Lisandro de la Torre stations. Trains leaving Downtown depart from Retiro Train Station.
