About

Founded in 1996, the Fundación Proa is situated in the heart of the La Boca district and is a modern and contemporary art center. The building, originally an old Italian mansion, was transformed into this trendy landmark. The Fundación Proa hosts up to six exhibitions and artist shows each year.

The building covers three floors, which include various exhibition rooms, an auditorium, a library, a restaurant, and a terrace.

The Fundación Proa is increasingly becoming a popular place to visit when in La Boca. It offers stylish surroundings with a mix of local and international exhibits and shows. The Proa is open Open throughout the week from mid-morning to early evening. On Monday it is usually closed. Guided tours are generally available. Did you know?

For three nights in December 2006, the Fundación Proa lit up the iconic transporter bridge in La Boca as part of its 10-year anniversary celebrations. It accomplished its aim of bringing the historic and visual importance of the bridge and port area to the public's attention.

How to get to Fundación Proa?

Taxi:
There is no metro line that runs to La Boca, so taking a cab or local bus is the best option. It is not far from downtown Buenos Aires, approximately 10 minutes by cab and 15-20 minutes by bus.

Bus:
Routes 29, 53, 64, and 152 go to La Boca.

Walking:
Alternatively, you can walk to La Boca. It is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from San Telmo. You can shave off some time if you cut through Parque Lezama.
