Jardín Botánico - Botanical Garden
About
The Botanical Garden of Buenos Aires was established in 1898. Known locally as El Jardín Botánico Carlos Thays, the gardens are centrally located within the Palermo neighbourhood and were designed by Carlos Thays, an influential architect and landscape designer from the period. The botanical garden aims to promote knowledge and appreciation of the plant world, housing over 5,000 plant, tree, and shrub species from around the globe. Interconnecting pathways guide visitors through Roman, French, and Oriental style areas, as well as classic fountains. Additionally, the garden features over 30 sculptures, monuments, and busts.
The main building complex, which includes a reception area, used to be the house where Carlos Thays and his family once lived.
